The Blue and Green Bust, 10/10/2016
Acrylic, Ceramic Slab To me, whenever I find some utter silence in a landscape, I begin to stare and stare until my eyes dry out. This fascination never ceases- and I become stuck on that now familiar site. The “woman” to me is the representation of a fertile, ever giving being, and with that “Environmental Response” becomes more familiar. It begins to inhabit us- the one body that doesn’t seem natural at all. Legs, Limbs, everything seems out of place. Yet, much like the woman in my depiction, we seek landscapes only to find that they never leave us. |

The Entanglement of Leda, December 7th, 2016
Cotton Bubble Gauze, Bengala Dye (Indigo/Akane), Acrylic Paint Water and Swans, Men and Women. These two forces parallel the human experience in ways unjustified by reality. To bridge the grace and elegance of a swan onto a human counterpart, I have visualized the crevices that have haunted me all my life. In an orange laden atmosphere, a woman bathes, yet the actual act of bathing has been diminished and only her supported body is shown. A male figure, emblazoned with blue, seeks the woman. Yet, Leda, has no way to resist: no mind, shelter, or haven to seek guidance from. Without judgement, she continues bathing, washing, and cleansing. The textile adds to the image-- made out of a substance possibly worn in the bath houses. The narrative is consecutively tied to the material trying to ease her burden, yet she cannot escape. She is fitting herself with stained waters. |
